Joe Trembly Passing

Many members will remember Joe as a long time member and officer of the Men's Club.

Congratulations Austin Meng

Austin Meng, from our very own Men's Club, beat the World's #1 ranked amateur long drive champion (Will Cashin) Aug. 15th!  Austin won the 2019 Amateur Long Drive Championship Regional Qualifier at Barefoot Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC. Hitting into the wind and rain on a slightly uphill grid, Austin launched his first and longest drive 315 yards. Will "Smashin" Cashin hit his longest drive 312 yards for 2nd place. This is Austin's first long drive competition.

On Friday the 16th, each of the competitors best drive of two was used.  Autin's second drive of 307 yards got him a tie for seventh and a spot in the 16-man field advancing to Saturday.  The top qualifier hit 330 yards.

Rain played havoc on the competition on Saturday, forcing the competition indoors.  Hitting into a video screen on an indoor range, and getting only one drive in the round of 16, Austin got off a drive of 352 yards.  That left him in 10th place, 10 yards shy of eighth place and a spot in the quarterfinals.

Congratulations Austin!  What a fine showing in your first appearance at the ALD Amateur Long Drive Championship.

2019 Memorial Scholarship Awardee

Riley Hadley is the Memorial Scholarship recipient for 2019.  Riley is an exceptional student and was a starter on the golf team at Central Valley High School.  While on the golf team, Riley consistently was CV’s top player.   He received a $1,000 cash scholarship thanks to the donations of our club members.  Riley is currently in the process of obtaining his pilot’s license.  He will be attending Big Bend Community college for a degree in aviation and to become a commercial pilot.   You all may recognize the name, as he has been working as a “pro shop” assistant at Meadow Wood.    Congratulations Riley!   We wish you much success.

5/17/19 - Congratulations to our junior golf members.
